Hotel Indigo Auckland Guestroom
Indigo Debuts in Midtown Auckland
Hotel Indigo, a member of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle collection, has officially opened its doors in New Zealand with the launch of Hotel Indigo Auckland, located in the Midtown area. This hotel features 225 rooms and serves as a storyteller of the neighbourhood, seamlessly integrating local heritage, art inspired by the culture, and international cuisine. It establishes a new venue for tourists and Auckland residents in the City of Sails.
Situated on the historic grounds of a 1912 motor house that once imported Cadillacs to New Zealand, Hotel Indigo Auckland’s design honours its industrial heritage through a blend of heritage-listed and contemporary architecture. Gorgeous interiors and gallery-worthy artworks transform every corner of the hotel into an engaging cultural experience.
Commissioned specifically for the hotel, renowned New Zealand contemporary artist and photographer Stuart Robertson- famous for his global art initiative Peace in 10,000 Hands- has created a unique photographic exhibition across all 25 accommodation floors. Every floor presents a narrative about Auckland, depicted through a visual perspective that reflects the essence of the neighbourhood and its contemporary culture.
Simone Haag, a renowned stylist, has turned the hotel’s lobby into an exhibit of local artistry, featuring handmade paintings, wooden sculptures, ceramics, glasswork, woven crafts, and leather artworks. Raukura Turei, a multidisciplinary artist, architect, and designer, has created two remarkable installations utilizing natural elements from her ancestral land, delving into her connections with atua (gods) and tīpuna (ancestors).
Neighbourhood-Inspired Guest Rooms
Situated in the lively heart of Midtown on Albert Street, known for its contemporary architecture, vibrant restaurants, and historic landmarks, Hotel Indigo Auckland stands as one of the tallest structures in the city. With 27 floors in its 41-storey tower, the hotel features floor-to-ceiling windows that reveal skyline and harbour views. Emphasizing Hotel Indigo’s distinctive philosophy that celebrates individuality, the design of Hotel Indigo Auckland reflects its automotive heritage. The property includes 225 rooms, 10 of which are accessible, showcasing automotive-inspired elements like rear-view mirrors positioned above king-size beds, open wardrobes with an industrial aesthetic, headlamp lighting, pegboard shelving, and upholstery reminiscent of classic car interiors.
Each floor features carpets depicting Auckland street maps, emphasizing the city's connection while offering guests a modern boutique experience. The locally curated mini-bar includes Kokako organic drip coffee sourced from New Zealand’s North Island, Karma Drinks, exclusive Flox-designed 1907 artesian water, and a selection of teas from Zealong Tea Estate. Bathrooms are upgraded with high-end GHD hairdryers and MARACA body and hair care products, which include a Waitematā range made explicitly in New Zealand for Hotel Indigo Auckland.
Welcoming Bistro Saine
The hotel’s culinary highlight is Bistro Saine, a French-Mediterranean restaurant led by Executive Chef Yutak Son, a Korean-born chef trained in France. Emphasizing seasonal ingredients and local flavours, Bistro Saine is inspired by Europe’s iconic brasseries and the dining culture of New York, artfully combining classic techniques with contemporary Mediterranean influences from Southern France, Italy, and Spain. Guests can also enjoy Café Etiquette, a chic café and wine bar, and The Henry, a cocktail lounge that evokes the atmosphere of New York, London, and Paris.
