Pablo Maturana, VP, Development, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton

“2024 was a landmark year for Hilton in the Caribbean and Latin America. We successfully expanded our portfolio of hotels at a record-breaking pace, extending our iconic hospitality and award-winning brands to new destinations across the region,” said Pablo Maturana, vice president, development, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton.

“With more deals signed in 2024 than in any other previous year, we are blazing through a period of extraordinary pipeline growth, and we are confident that the demand for our renowned hospitality and distinguished brands will continue to soar among developers, owners, and travelers.”

In 2024, Hilton’s rapid growth in the CALA region was driven by the strength of its brands and the expertise of its local development team. While the company’s expansion covered the entire area, strategically emphasising the Caribbean, Mexico, and Brazil generated notable momentum in these markets. Hilton aims to almost double its footprint in the Caribbean by adding 35 new properties to its portfolio of over 45 hotels. Having surpassed 100 hotels in Mexico, Hilton has nearly 40 more hotels and resorts in the pipeline, including the newly announced Conrad Los Cabos. Over the past three years, Hilton has more than doubled its footprint in Brazil, now totalling 25 hotels and plans to nearly achieve this growth again, with around 20 new hotels set for the upcoming years.

Record-Breaking Portfolio Growth

In 2024, Hilton achieved the highest number of hotel openings in the Caribbean and Latin America, with 64 new properties. The company significantly enhanced its luxury portfolio through a unique partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World while diversifying its lifestyle options as travellers increasingly seek distinctive experiences and popular destinations globally. Conversions played a crucial role in growth, representing nearly 60% of the region's new openings.

New Markets

Hilton has expanded into five new countries and territories within CALA, strengthening its presence and offering travellers additional options. The company entered Paraguay with the Palmaroga Hotel Asuncion, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and Bonaire with the Delfins Beach Resort Bonaire, also part of the Tapestry Collection. Additionally, thanks to a new exclusive partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Hilton has expanded to the Turks and Caicos Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Antigua and Barbuda.

Brand Milestones

Hilton’s renowned brands marked notable market firsts and achievements. Motto by Hilton made its debut in South America with an opening in Cusco, Peru. DoubleTree by Hilton entered the Argentine and Ecuadorian markets with new Buenos Aires and Guayaquil hotels. Tru by Hilton Cali Sur brought the brand to Colombia. Curio Collection by Hilton launched in the Dominican Republic with Hotel Santiago and Puerto Rico with Palacio Provincial San Juan, located in the picturesque Old San Juan district.

Unprecedented Pipeline Growth

In 2024, Hilton made significant strides in CALA, ending the year with a pipeline exceeding 130 projects, with over half already in progress. The company entered more than 40 new agreements in the region during 2024, adding around 6,000 future rooms and enhancing Hilton’s presence in key segments such as luxury, lifestyle, and resorts. This expansion will reinforce its foothold in important markets like Brazil and Mexico and other key locations and introduce several new brands throughout the region. Notably, conversions accounted for nearly 30% of signings in 2024, continuing to play a vital role in growth.

In the first half of 2025, Hilton plans to launch the eagerly awaited Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique and the Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. This will be followed by the introduction of Tru by Hilton Chillan Ferrat in Chile and the Hampton Inn by Hilton St. Thomas, marking Hilton’s entry into new locations.

A Future of Luxury and Lifestyle

Hilton is poised for significant growth in the luxury and lifestyle sectors. Almost a third of the region’s development pipeline hotels are focused on these categories. The anticipated openings of Conrad Los Cabos and Waldorf Astoria San Miguel de Allende in 2027 further highlight Hilton’s commitment to expanding its presence in the luxury market.

Hilton plans to launch over 25 hotels across roughly 10 countries and territories in the lifestyle segment, addressing the growing demand for unique and culturally relevant experiences in various locations, including Brazil, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Trinidad & Tobago.

Notable signings for Hilton Hotels & Resorts include Hilton Tijuana and Hilton Medellin, both set for 2026, and a dual-branded project featuring Hilton Georgetown and DoubleTree by Hilton in Guyana, representing Hilton’s first venture in this country. Focused service hotels continue to be a key driver of growth as well. Leading brands such as Hampton by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn are expanding steadily. Tru by Hilton, launched in CALA in 2022, has achieved impressive growth and is now among the largest brands in Hilton’s regional pipeline.

Hilton is set to launch its award-winning, extended-stay brand, Home2 Suites by Hilton, in the Caribbean and Latin America. Two new hotels have been secured in Mexico, and discussions for several additional properties are progressing in various markets.

Spark by Hilton is set to debut in CALA in 2025, aiming to redefine the premium economy segment in the area by delivering value, quality, and consistency for both guests and owners. Hilton is currently in negotiations to establish several Spark by Hilton hotels throughout the region.
