Dusit International Expands Its Presence In India

Dusit aims to target underserved yet promising markets across the country.

Dusit International's Growth Spree in India

Dusit International plans to enhance its presence by strengthening its commitment to India by introducing its luxury and upper midscale brands in crucial emerging markets. As disposable incomes rise and the demand for premium accommodations grows, alongside improved connectivity transforming India’s hospitality sector, Dusit aims to target underserved yet promising markets across the country.

Dusit is not only looking at opportunities in India’s Tier 1 cities but also plans to explore Tier 2 and Tier 3 locations where luxury and upscale hospitality remain sparse. This approach allows them to offer tailored, high-end experiences that cater to local preferences. This strategic move builds on the success of Dusit’s recent entry into the Indian market with the launch of the modern and upscale dusitD2 Fagu in Shimla in December 2024, alongside the agreements for three significant properties in Karnataka: the wellness-focused Devarana Sakleshpur, Karnataka – A Dusit Retreat (scheduled to open in 2028), and two forthcoming Dusit Princess Hotels & Resorts.

Dusit boasts a diverse brand portfolio that includes the ultra-luxury Devarana—Dusit Retreats and upper-midscale and midscale options like Dusit Princess and ASAI Hotels. The company aims to expand into underserved areas where it can utilize its expertise in Thai-inspired hospitality, catering to the demands of business and leisure travellers.

Focusing on quality rather than quantity, the company chooses locations that reflect its commitment to premium, experience-driven hospitality. These locations provide a unique combination of holistic wellness, modern design, and outstanding service.

In line with this vision, Dusit is set to unveil six more hotels nationwide. The upper-midscale Dusit Princess brand will launch in Raipur (200 keys), Bhiwadi (165 keys), Kolkata (220 keys), and Lonavala (120 keys). Additionally, two boutique luxury properties from the newly introduced Dusit Collection brand in Kasol and Manali (each with 40 rooms) will provide upscale retreats in the Himalayan foothills.

“India represents an exceptional growth opportunity for Dusit – across major metros and particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where premium hospitality options remain limited despite strong demand,” said Siradej Donavanik, Vice President – Development (Global), Dusit International.

“The country’s tourism industry is evolving rapidly, with increasing demand for high-quality, experience-driven stays. By blending our unique brand of Thai-inspired gracious hospitality with wellness-led experiences and destination-driven properties, we aim to create exceptional stays that resonate deeply with Indian travellers. Through strategic partnerships with visionary local developers, we are committed to shaping India’s premium hospitality landscape for the long term.”

Dusit is not only focusing on immediate expansion but also aims to create a comprehensive hospitality ecosystem in India. This ecosystem integrates luxury accommodations, holistic wellness, fine dining, and hospitality education to provide enduring value. Central to this vision is a strong commitment to sustainability, championed by Dusit’s Tree of Life programme across the organization. This programme aligns with specific United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and includes 31 measurable criteria, ensuring a lasting and beneficial impact on every community Dusit engages with.

Dusit Hospitality Education will emphasize developing local talent, training Indian hospitality professionals to deliver world-class service standards. These initiatives highlight Dusit’s dedication to responsible hospitality and its vision for sustainable growth within the global hospitality sector.

Dusit’s foray into the Indian market is a key aspect of its expansion strategy in dynamic, high-growth regions like Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, China, and India. With plans to sign over 100 hotels worldwide in the next five years, Dusit aims to enchant travelers globally, offering a distinctive blend of Thai-inspired warm hospitality and carefully integrated local customs.
