Sofitel Porto Joins Accor Portfolio

Accor and Propreal Capital Partners have announced the signing of Sofitel Porto, set to open in 2028. This marks the second collaboration between Propreal and Sofitel, following the success of Sofitel Barcelona Skipper. Strategically located between Avenida dos Aliados and Rua de Santa Catarina, Sofitel Porto will elevate luxury hospitality in Portugal’s second-largest city.

Sofitel Porto is set to blend the brand’s unique style with the rich cultural heritage of Porto. This luxurious hotel, featuring 132 rooms across approximately 11,000 m², will include public areas, diverse dining options that may collaborate with local Portuguese chefs, and a mix of calm and vibrant spaces tailored to both international visitors and the local community. Centrally located, the hotel will also incorporate green areas, enhancing the urban environment. The iconic façade will be preserved, while the interior, designed by Lázaro Rosa-Violán, will highlight the property’s identity by showcasing a fusion of Portuguese craftsmanship and French sophistication. The thoughtful renovation is aimed at restoring the building's original charm, emphasizing artisanal elements that pay tribute to the city’s design legacy.

Accor seized a distinctive opportunity to expand its luxury footprint in Porto following Propreal Capital Partners' acquisition of this prime site. United by a shared vision, the two partners work together to provide hospitality experiences across major European cities.

Sofitel Porto will be a flagship property for the brand in the Iberian Peninsula, marking Accor’s first luxury hotel in Porto and its second Sofitel in Portugal, alongside Sofitel Lisbon Avenida Liberdade. Furthermore, Accor oversees multiple hotels in the city under the Novotel, Mercure, and ibis brands.
