Every time we see a beautiful place in our weekly Netflix binge, we add it to our bucket list of places to visit. Banking on exactly this phenomenon, Greece’s tourism board, Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO), has signed a memorandum with the streaming service Netflix to promote the country’s tourism. The memorandum was signed by former GNTO secretary-general Dimitris Fragakis and Dr. Madeleine de Cock Buning, public policy vice president for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Netflix.

Now Streaming: Greece’s Beauty

Greece and Netflix have entered a new partnership to attract more tourists to the country. Netflix will create a promotional video for Greece’s tourism board that will be used by the nation for further promotional activities. Existing content by Netflix that was shot in Greece is also now available for GNTO to use. The partnership will also offer Netflix Greece as a prime shooting location for their future productions, indirectly generating more buzz for the tourism sector.

Talking at the signing, Fragakis said, “The Greek National Tourism Organization is proud to partner with Netflix to promote Greece as a top destination, showcasing its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Through this collaboration, we aim to establish Greece as an ideal location for future audiovisual productions. By leveraging Netflix’s global reach, this partnership aims to attract tourists and filmmakers, making Greece a magnet for travel and film production.”
