Germany’s Travel & Tourism Projected to Hit €499BN and 6.5MN Jobs in 2025
Germany’s travel and tourism sector is projected to reach record levels in 2025, with a total economic contribution of € 499 billion, representing 11.6% of the country’s GDP, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). The sector is also expected to support 6.5 million jobs, accounting for 14% of national employment.
International visitor spending is forecast to reach €57BN, the highest recorded in Germany, while domestic spending is projected to surpass €425BN.
The sector’s growth reflects Germany’s policies aimed at sustainable tourism development, integrated under the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. This approach has supported economic progress while also promoting sustainability efforts.
Looking beyond 2025, the WTTC forecasts that by 2035, the sector could contribute €579BN to the economy, with 7.6 million jobs, €74BN in international visitor spending, and €480BN in domestic spending. Continued investment in connectivity, marketing, and visitor experience is considered crucial to sustaining this growth trajectory.
