Emirates’ Damascus Service Returns July 16

Emirates

Emirates will resume flights to Damascus starting 16 July 2025. Services were suspended to the Syrian capital in 2012, and their return follows a thorough evaluation conducted with the UAE GCAA.

The airline will initially operate three weekly flights on Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday. Starting from August 2, it plans to increase to four weekly flights by adding an additional service on Saturday. Additionally, Emirates will expand its Damascus operations to daily flights, beginning October 26.

Emirates will operate its services to Damascus using a 302-seat Boeing 777-200LR. The flight, designated EK 913, is scheduled to depart from Dubai at 12:00 PM and will arrive at Damascus International Airport at 2:10 PM local time. The return flight, EK 914, will leave Damascus at 4:30 PM and is expected to arrive in Dubai at 8:30 PM local time.

The new flights will create additional opportunities for travellers to easily connect to and from the airline’s network of nearly 150 destinations. This initiative will also support the UAE’s efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and help Syria in its aspirations to rebuild and attract foreign investment in crucial sectors such as energy, construction, and agriculture.

Emirates customers travelling to and from Damascus will benefit from the airline’s codeshare partnership with flydubai. This partnership enhances Emirates’ flight schedule and offers more options and convenience for flying in and out of the Syrian capital.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group said: “Emirates is pleased to restart operations to Damascus and support Syria’s road ahead by providing better choice and connectivity, essential economic links for inwards investment as well as opening new trade lanes and global market access for the country. Re-establishing air travel and connectivity is also good news for our customers that make up the expansive Syrian diaspora across the Americas, Europe and the GCC, who are eager to fly back home and reconnect to their roots, and leverage their knowledge, skills, expertise and resources in ongoing development efforts.

We would like to thank the Syrian authorities for their support in strengthening connectivity between Dubai and Damascus and look forward to boosting links to and from the country through our regularly scheduled operations.”

In 2024, trade volumes between the UAE and Syria reached US$ $680 million (AED 2.5 billion), marking a 23% increase from the previous year. The introduction of new flights is expected to further enhance these crucial trade relations. Additionally, the UAE is home to a thriving Syrian community of over 350,000 nationals who have significantly contributed to the country’s prosperity. Their entrepreneurial ventures and skilled expertise have enriched the UAE’s cultural tapestry.

The Boeing 777-200LR aircraft operating to and from Damascus offers 38 Business Class seats and 264 Economy Class seats. Emirates Business Class on this route features a 2-2-2 seating configuration. Travellers flying to and from Damascus with Emirates will enjoy an exceptional experience in the sky, highlighted by a culinary offering that includes Levantine-inspired dishes paired with a wide selection of premium beverages. Customers can also unwind with up to 6,500 channels of carefully curated entertainment, featuring nearly 650 channels of Arabic content, including movies, TV shows, music, podcasts, games, audiobooks, and more, all accessible through ice, Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system.

Emirates began its services to Damascus in 1988 and, prior to suspending operations in 2012, had transported over 2.1 million passengers in and out of Syria. Currently, the airline operates flights to 13 cities in the Middle East and the GCC, providing a total of 191 weekly flights to the region.
