American Airlines And Qantas Announce Additional Flights From The United States To Australia

Qantas will operate all its flights between Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Sydney, Australia (SYD) using its A380 aircraft starting in January.

This winter, experiencing the natural scenery, wildlife, and cities of Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne in Australia will be more accessible thanks to enhanced services from American Airlines and Qantas. Beginning December 5 and lasting until January 2026, American will introduce three weekly flights linking Los Angeles (LAX) with Brisbane, Australia (BNE). In addition, Qantas will expand its operations to provide daily flights between Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Melbourne, Australia (MEL), starting December 3 and continuing until the end of January 2026. Moreover, Qantas will operate all its flights between Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Sydney, Australia (SYD) using its A380 aircraft starting in January.

Whether traveling to the beaches of Whitsundays, snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, taking in the Aurora Australis from Tasmania’s Mount Wellington or unwinding at Rottnest Island amid quokkas, American and Qantas offer customers the opportunity to tailor their travels to best suit their needs with convenient flights, comprehensive networks and reciprocal status benefits. Tickets for American’s new service between LAX and BNE will go on sale starting May 12.

Connecting countries, cultures and more

For the fourth consecutive year, the American and Qantas Joint Business partnership is enhancing connections between the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. Following the launch of service between DFW and MEL in 2022, Qantas will operate daily services in December and January between these two hubs, enabling seamless one-stop connections from various locations across the U.S. to Melbourne.

The joint business partnership further improves connectivity from BNE. American and Qantas will provide up to seven weekly flights to LAX this winter, ensuring convenient daily connections for customers travelling from Queensland’s stunning coastlines, renowned zoos, and beyond to the City of Angels. All American and Qantas flights will utilize Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

After a successful season of flying, American’s inaugural BNE route from DFW will resume winter service on Oct. 26. Additionally, American has introduced its newly designed Boeing 787-9 aircraft, which includes 51 Flagship Suite seats and 32 Premium Economy seats for all DFW to BNE flights. Customers can now book a Flagship Suite experience on this route.

American and Qantas provide customers with the most extensive networks linking North America to Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. With services from major North American gateways like DFW, LAX, New York (JFK), San Francisco (SFO), and Vancouver (YVR), travelers can connect to over 200 destinations across North America and New Zealand, including Auckland (AKL) and beyond, utilizing American’s leading network for joint business flights. From four major gateways in Australia—Brisbane (BNE), Melbourne (MEL), and Sydney (SYD)—customers can access nearly 70 destinations throughout the region.

Customers now have additional options to elevate their travel experience. Beyond the current opportunities for American’s AAdvantage members to earn and redeem miles for travel on Qantas, members can also utilize their miles to upgrade to a higher cabin class on select fares with Qantas.
