Dassault and Reliance Launch Falcon 2000 Production in India
Reliance Infrastructure has teamed up with France’s Dassault Aviation to manufacture Falcon 2000 jets in India, according to a joint announcement from the companies. India aims to enhance the production of domestically made defence equipment. Dassault plans to deliver the first jets produced in India by 2028, catering to corporate and military markets. This initiative is expected to meet the growing demand in Indian and international markets.
India, the world’s largest arms importer, is aiming to enhance domestic production. Global companies are being encouraged to manufacture in India, either independently or in collaboration with local partners.
New Delhi is striving to boost its defence exports, which increased by 12% in the fiscal year ending in March, reaching a total of $2.76 billion. In a significant development, Dassault will manufacture Falcon 2000 jets outside of France for the first time. The company is teaming up with Reliance Aerostructure, owned by tycoon Anil Ambani, to set up a final assembly line in Nagpur, a city located in western India. Following this announcement, shares of Reliance Infrastructure surged by 5% during afternoon trading, while Dassault’s shares remained relatively stable.
Earlier this month, the French company signed an agreement with the Tata Group to produce the fuselage of the Rafale fighter aircraft in Hyderabad, marking the first time this production has occurred outside of France.
