SpiceJet announced that it will re-induct one of its grounded Boeing 737 Max aircraft into operations starting January 29. This is part of its plan to gradually return all these planes to service. Beginning Wednesday, the first aircraft will be deployed on high-demand routes.

After being grounded for several months, the airline stated that the aircraft's return represents a significant milestone in SpiceJet's efforts to restore its fleet and enhance operations. SpiceJet plans to return ten aircraft, including four Boeing 737 MAX planes, to service by mid-April as part of its ongoing fleet restoration initiative. According to the statement, this restoration marks the first 737 MAX aircraft to be reintroduced in this process.

Furthermore, SpiceJet mentioned that since October of last year, it has increased its fleet by adding 10 aircraft, including three previously grounded planes and seven newly leased ones. SpiceJet announced that this has allowed the airline to grow its network, with more than 60 new flights launched in the past three months, thereby improving connectivity and providing passengers with additional travel options.

To support the recovery of its Boeing MAX fleet, SpiceJet has recently signed service agreements with US-based engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider StandardAero Inc. and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for LEAP-1B engines, CFM International, Inc. According to the statement, adding these fuel-efficient aircraft is expected to lead to substantial cost savings and increased aircraft utilization.
