All Set for Paralympics

On August 21, 2024 (peak arrivals), nearly 300 athletes travelled on Air France flights, notably from Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Santiago de Chile. On August 22, 2024, 200 athletes are travelling on Air France flights, notably from Nairobi, Bogota and Manchester. The first Paralympic delegations arrived in Paris on August 12, and arrivals have continued steadily since then. In total, Air France expects to carry 35% of Paralympic athletes as well as numerous representatives of the disabled sport delegations, members of the Olympic family and sports fans.

As with the Olympics, when Air France carried over 11,000 customers with Olympic accreditation, arrivals will continue throughout the Games, with a peak number of departures expected on 9 September, the day after the closing ceremony. On 21 and 22 August 2024, Air France saw large volumes of sports equipment and more than 250 wheelchairs. Paralympic athletes in wheelchairs travel with an average of two wheelchairs, including one competition wheelchair. All Air France’s operational teams and SAPHIR, the airline’s special service dedicated to people with disabilities, have been fully mobilised for several months to prepare for these arrivals.
