Emirates Chairman Meets PayPal Execs

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, recently welcomed Suzan Kereere, President of Global Markets at PayPal, a worldwide digital commerce platform, at Emirates Group Headquarters. During their meeting, Emirates and PayPal explored ways to strengthen their 15-year partnership and enhance collaboration in the evolving digital payments landscape.

Emirates now provides PayPal on emirates.com across 34 countries. Customers benefit from a simplified, quick, and secure checkout process when booking travel, along with flexible payment options such as PayPal Pay Later. Over the past year, the airline has experienced a significant rise in customer adoption, frequency of use, and transaction volumes through PayPal.

PayPal has launched its inaugural regional headquarters in Dubai, targeting the Middle East and Africa. This initiative aims to enhance commerce capabilities for consumers and businesses in emerging economies, enabling companies of all sizes to sell internationally.

Dubai is quickly establishing itself as a global leader in fintech due to its advantageous location, supportive business environment, and robust financial infrastructure. The city has drawn in significant fintech companies and fostered the growth of local startups. Additionally, Dubai has implemented fintech accelerators, clusters, and regulatory 'sandboxes’ to facilitate the testing of innovative solutions. These initiatives are part of the broader strategy to propel Dubai's D33 agenda, aimed at positioning the city among the world's top four financial centers, with fintech being a crucial element.
