“Delta has a 100-year history of creating a customer experience that feels welcoming and thoughtful with intentional design elements woven into every aspect of a customer’s travel,” said Mauricio Parise, Vice President – Customer Experience Design.

“As we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customers’ evolving tastes and expectations.”

A PREMIUM DESIGN FOR ALL CABINS

The interior of the new cabin design was purposefully and distinctively created to provide Delta passengers with a homey feeling while they are travelling. Breathable materials, cozy memory foam couches on widebody planes, and relaxing lighting will all be features of the fleet.

Every design element was thoughtfully considered, with an emphasis on the details that matter most to its clients. As always, Delta puts its passengers and staff first. This comprehensive overhaul of the cabin interior results from a great deal of study and input, and it aims to provide a cabin experience that matches its customers' evolving expectations and lifestyles.

Customers of Delta One will enjoy new, comfortable, breathable seats composed of a blend of nylon and wool. Passengers may relax and rest while flying thanks to these seats' better temperature control and reduced weight compared to conventional seat coverings. A specially made leather headrest is another feature of the Delta One seat.

LIGHTING

Improved lighting designs aim to create a more harmonious atmosphere on board. If mood lighting is customized for each journey phase, passengers will feel more rooted and adjusted to their time zone.

“Every flight is different, so we’ve focused on creating warm, calming and atmospheric lighting options that create an environment for customers to rest and relax or stay productive as they wish,” said Parise.

“For boarding, we’ve focused on the ‘moment of deceleration’ – warm and inviting lighting that makes the cabin appear spacious and open. At mealtimes, we queue hues that feel like you’re at a candlelit dinner – making meals more natural and inviting.  As the lights dim for sleep, we borrow from the sunset and slowly remove blue light while bringing in warm amber tones reminiscent of a sunset glow. When it’s time to wake up, the cabin slowly brightens into morning and daylight.”

BRAND COLORS & DESIGN ELEMENTS

The airline is rethinking how it employs its brand colours by embracing a softer, warmer, and more contemporary colour scheme with natural materials like wool and hints of Delta's original heritage colours. The sleek, simple, and new design elevates key components of the Delta brand. Bright walls and an accent wall opposite the mirror in the Celestial Sky pattern will also update the restrooms. The bathroom cabinets will be a trendy, fresh shade of Azure Blue. The flooring's smooth, colored-speck substance ensures better cleanliness and secure traction. Customers will feel more at home if there are distinctive accents throughout the cabin, such as Delta widget logos and seat badges that subtly differentiate separate cabins and careful material selections at customer touchpoints.

Current onboard branding patterns have evolved into new design motifs on bulkheads. The Infinite Grid greets passengers and reminds them that Delta is the best global connector. The Celestial Sky pattern evokes the wonder and pleasure of flight while utilizing components of our worldwide network. All Delta One and Delta Premium Select widebody aircraft have branded cabin identification. The celestial sky design will erect an under-bin divider for airplanes without a full-size barrier between cabins.

LAUNCH SCHEDULE

Delta’s new cabin design will first debut on a narrowbody Boeing 757 aircraft that will begin flying on domestic and short-haul international routes later this fall. In early 2025, a widebody Airbus A350 will debut with the new design on long-haul international routes. Over the next few years, additional aircraft will receive the new cabin design as Delta’s schedule and operation allow.

Delta is committed to having its entire fleet look uniform and updated with this new design. It aims to create a singular experience across our diverse fleet, not just a unique subset. When customers step onboard, they will know what to expect and what to look forward to, regardless of the type of plane that their flight is operated on.

TAKING FLIGHT

“Delta has taken the time to develop every detail of our new interiors; the team intentionally created an experience that mimics our customers’ lifestyles and puts them at ease as soon as they board our aircraft,” concluded Parise. “We look forward to sharing our hard work with our customers and welcoming them onboard.”
