This summer, flying will become even more enjoyable with the highly anticipated arrival of American Airlines' premium Flagship Suite seats on its newest Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Starting Monday, customers can purchase tickets at aa.com and via American’s mobile app for the inaugural flight on June 5 from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Los Angeles (LAX) for Flight 2012, which will then return to ORD as part of its first Flagship Suite service to London Heathrow (LHR) on Flight 98.

Later this summer, American Airlines will introduce the new 787-9 on routes from Philadelphia (PHL) to both London Heathrow (LHR) and Zurich (ZRH). This fall, the Flagship Suite service will extend to Australia, with flights operating from Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to Brisbane (BNE).

American Airlines introduced two new 787-9 aircraft to Dallas-Fort Worth on Tuesday, with plans to add a total of 30 new planes to the fleet by 2029. The airline aims to increase its lie-flat and Premium Economy seating by 50% by the end of the decade.

Mainly designed for long-haul international travel, passengers on American’s 787-9 can enjoy 51 Flagship Suite seats located at the front of the plane. These seats offer privacy doors, additional personal storage complete with a wireless charging pad, and a unique chaise lounge seating arrangement with an adjustable headrest pillow.

As a benefit of the Flagship Suite service, customers enjoy Priority check-in, security, boarding, and baggage handling. They also gain access to American’s Flagship lounge, where they can savor complimentary regionally inspired dishes and signature cocktails. The inflight Flagship Suite service includes a multicourse meal designed to complement award-winning wines, along with premium amenity kits featuring a selection of luxury skincare products. Travelers will also find a cozy duvet blanket and a refreshing dual-sided pillow, which has cool touch fabric on one side and traditional fabric on the other.
