Air India has gained international acclaim for its Maharaja Club loyalty program, which was named the 2025 ‘Up and Coming Program’ of the year in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, during the esteemed Freddie Awards in Chicago, Illinois. This honour reflects the recent evolution of Air India’s Maharaja Club into a premier loyalty program that emphasizes enhanced convenience, increased rewards, and worldwide recognition for its members.

“Winning at the globally coveted Freddie Awards 2025 is an incredible honour for Air India,” said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India.

“Earning this recognition, based on the votes of millions of frequent flyers worldwide, is incredibly encouraging and reaffirms our commitment to excellence. It motivates us to keep pushing boundaries, delivering unmatched value, and creating a loyalty program that resonates with travellers across the globe.”

Established in 1988, the Freddie Awards serve as a prominent global standard for travel loyalty programs. They have significantly elevated in importance, becoming the most esteemed member-generated awards in the travel loyalty sector. Currently, more than 4.2 million voters from around the world participate annually, casting their ballots for the Freddie Awards in 13 languages, including Hindi.

The ‘Up and Coming Program of the Year’ award celebrates the significant positive feedback Maharaja Club has garnered from frequent flyers globally in a short time, demonstrating exceptional value, innovation, and a promising future within the global travel industry.

Following its overhaul by Air India’s new owner, the Tata Group, Maharaja Club has significantly transformed. Revamped in April 2024, the loyalty program shifted from a traditional miles-based point collection system to a more equitable spend-based model. The program has welcomed millions of new members in the past year, featuring a simplified structure, numerous customer-friendly enhancements, renaming of tiers, and a refreshed identity.
