Minor Hotels has announced that Anantara Ubud Bali Resort has been named one of Travel + Leisure magazine’s 100 Best New Hotels in the World in their annual It List.

Anantara Ubud Bali Resort

Travel + Leisure’s annual It List highlights luxury hotels, resorts and cruise ships that have made the most memorable impression on the magazine’s editors and contributors, who have evaluated hundreds of new and renovated properties over the last year, narrowing the list to just 100 globally. In her review, senior editor at Travel + Leisure Hannah Walhout wrote: “It was pouring when I arrived, but rain suits the place. Looking out from my villa’s infinity pool after the rain had cleared, I saw nothing but slopes covered with bamboo, banana plants and palms.”

Anantara Ubud Bali is designed to make guests feel as though they have the entire island to themselves. Nestled on a mountain in the remote Payangan forest, surrounded by traditional villages and rice paddies, the resort cascades down the hillside with suites featuring deep soaking tubs overlooking the canopy and oversized villas offering private infinity pools in the heart of a jungle.

The main restaurants, Amerta and Kirana, serve inspired takes on local cuisine, such as Balinese ceviche, alongside Indonesian classics and international dishes. Breakfast is best enjoyed on Kirana’s outdoor terrace among the treetop, while for sundowners guests flock to the sprawling terrace of the upper-level lobby bar.

At Anantara Spa, therapies rooted in indigenous Balinese traditions are paired with soothing scenery. Beyond the resort, wellness activities extend to private sessions with local spiritual leaders and healers and visits to rarely-touristed water temples, such as the World Heritage-protected Pura Mengening.

“For twenty years, the prestigious T+L It List has been highlighting the very best new properties globally, and we are delighted to be recognised,” said Marion Walsh-Hédouin, Global Head of Public Relations and Communications for Minor Hotels. “Our team in Ubud takes immense pride in presenting visitors with the real Bali, offering an authentic experience that celebrates the island’s soulful essence, far removed from overplayed travel clichés.”
