The news comes amid the airline facing various operational issues and questions being raised on its safety measures. According to The Times of India, the official also stated that Air India is “keen to lease aircraft, but the market is very tight, especially for wide-body planes.” Air India all set to kickstart maintenance work on its planes According to the official, the decision will help Air India do more “maintenance work under our own quality control”. Through the act, the group will restore old Boeing 787s and 777s to bring them up to quality standards. Air India CEO, Campbell Wilson, in a press conference, has stated that Air India will be “retrofitting more than 100 planes, including 40 wide-body planes, and has ordered around 25,000 aircraft seats as part of revamping the fleet”.
