AirAsia Brings RedRun to Penang, Boosting Tourism and Community Spirit
AirAsia has announced the launch of the RedRun event in Penang for the first time, aiming to boost tourism and promote community spirit across the ASEAN region. Following the success of the inaugural RedRun in Bali earlier this year, which attracted participants from 40 countries, this vibrant destination was selected for its rich heritage and diverse food culture.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Gurney Plaza and will feature three categories: 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km. Registration is now open and will remain available until August 18, 2025. As one of AirAsia’s busiest hubs, the location offers direct flights to 12 destinations, including Singapore, Jakarta, and Ho Chi Minh City.
YB Tuan Wong Hon Wai, Penang State Tourism and Creative Economy EXCO, said, “This event brings the community together and promotes Penang’s culture. We invite all residents to take part.”
Dato’ Captain Fareh Mazputra, CEO of AirAsia Malaysia, added, “RedRun is more than a race; it encourages adventure, unity, and community. We’re excited to host it in Penang, one of our key hubs.”
The event will run in conjunction with the AirAsia Festival at Gurney Plaza this month, further attracting visitors.
