Air Canada and ITA Airways Advance Partnership with New Codeshare Connecting 20+ Destinations
Air Canada and ITA Airways have announced a new codeshare agreement, expanding their partnership and offering greater connectivity between Canada, Italy, and other regions.
Starting July 21, customers travelling on Air Canada flights to Rome-Fiumicino can book seamless connections to ten destinations operated by ITA Airways, including Lamezia Terme, Palermo, Catania, Florence, Bari, three cities in Africa (Cairo, Tunis, Algiers), Tirana, and Tel Aviv (temporarily suspended).
In return, ITA Airways will place its code on Air Canada flights from Toronto Pearson to six Canadian cities (Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, St. John’s) and four US destinations (Boston, Orlando, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale).

Mark Galardo, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer at Air Canada, said the partnership complements Air Canada’s existing Italian network and provides convenient options for travellers between the regions. Joerg Eberhart, CEO of ITA Airways, noted that the codeshare supports the airline’s strategy to grow in North America and strengthen ties with Italian communities abroad.
The two airlines are also working to introduce reciprocal loyalty program benefits, and ITA Airways is progressing towards joining Star Alliance by early 2026.
Air Canada now offers up to 39 weekly flights to Italy, including a new route from Montreal to Naples, alongside existing routes to Rome, Milan, and Venice, as well as rail connections within Italy via Trenitalia.
Air Canada operates flights to 59 destinations during the summer peak, with additional seasonal services across the Mediterranean and Europe, further supported by codeshares with Lufthansa Group airlines.
