Xiamen Airlines to Host 83rd IATA AGM in China in 2027

Xiamen Airlines to Welcome Global Aviation Leaders at IATA AGM 2027
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced that Xiamen Airlines will host the 83rd IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit (WATS) in Xiamen, China, from 30 May to 1 June 2027.
The announcement was made during the 82nd IATA AGM held in Rio de Janeiro, where member airlines confirmed Xiamen as the host city for the next gathering of aviation industry leaders.

Commenting on the decision, Willie Walsh, Director General of IATA, said that China continues to play an important role in global aviation, with its airlines ranking among the world’s largest by passenger traffic. He also noted the country’s growing use of technology and digitalisation across the aviation sector.

Xiamen Airlines Chairman Zhao Dong said the airline is looking forward to welcoming industry representatives to Xiamen. He highlighted the city’s role as a long-standing maritime gateway and its connection to international trade.

Xie Bing, CEO and President of Xiamen Airlines, said the opening of Xiang’an International Airport later this year is expected to strengthen Xiamen’s position as a transport and business centre. He added that visitors attending the AGM will have an opportunity to experience the city’s culture, coastline and local hospitality.
The 2027 event will mark the third time China has hosted the IATA AGM. Previous editions were held in Shanghai in 2002 and Beijing in 2012. It will be the first time that Xiamen hosts the annual gathering.
