American Airlines Unveils Strategic Winter Expansion—10% More Seats and 3 New Routes
American Airlines has unveiled its winter schedule, which includes three new nonstop routes and a significant increase in service to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America.

“Building on our position in the region, we’re expanding our network to offer travelers more options this winter,” said José A. Freig, Vice President of International and Inflight Dining Operations.
“With three new routes and a 10% boost in seat capacity, we’re enhancing connectivity for customers heading to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America.”
New seasonal service includes:
-
Chicago (ORD) → Mexico City (MEX) — daily service begins Oct 26.
-
Chicago (ORD) → Queretaro (QRO) — daily holiday flights from Dec 18 to Jan 5, opening access to local wine regions and cultural attractions.
-
Philadelphia (PHL) → Santo Domingo (SDQ) — daily flights starting Dec 18.
The winter schedule features over 430 peak daily departures to 97 destinations throughout the region. During the December holiday season, American will offer 2.3 million roundtrip seats—approaching 1 million more than its nearest competitor.

Philippe Puech, Director of International Network Planning, added, “We’re giving travelers more flexibility and options for their winter trips by expanding our route and frequency offerings.”
