Wyndham and Cygnett Announce Partnership to Launch La Quinta and Registry Collection Hotels in India and South Asia

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has announced a strategic alliance with Cygnett Hotels & Resorts to introduce its La Quinta by Wyndham and Registry Collection Hotels brands in India, with plans to expand into Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. The partnership is expected to add more than 60 hotels across the region over the next 10 years.
The collaboration reflects Wyndham’s strategy to expand in India, where travel demand continues to grow. Domestic travel spending in India reached USD 186 billion last year, with leisure travel projected to increase by 12% annually, driven by infrastructure development, expanding middle-class travel, and tourism growth.
Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said, “This collaboration marks a new step in Wyndham’s growth in Eurasia, with India as a key market. Cygnett shares our approach to long-term growth and aims to meet demand for accommodations that combine comfort, local character, and quality.”
La Quinta by Wyndham Plans
As part of the agreement, Wyndham and Cygnett signed an exclusive 10-year development deal to launch La Quinta by Wyndham in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The plan includes more than 50 hotels, with the first locations expected by the end of 2026. The brand targets upper-midscale travellers seeking value and convenience.
Registry Collection Hotels Expansion
The partnership also includes a non-exclusive 10-year development agreement for 10 Registry Collection Hotels, co-branded with Cygnett’s Anamore luxury brand. The first hotel under this arrangement is planned to open in 2026. Registry Collection Hotels focuses on boutique and luxury experiences in distinctive locations.
Sarbendra Sarkar, Founder & Managing Director, Cygnett Hotels & Resorts, said, “This collaboration allows us to expand quickly while offering a broader range of options for owners and guests. Both brands complement our portfolio and match current market demand for quality accommodations.”
Wyndham’s Regional Presence
Wyndham currently operates more than 70 hotels in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, under brands including Ramada by Wyndham, Howard Johnson by Wyndham, and Wyndham Garden. The company’s growth strategy in Eurasia is supported by its Wyndham Advantage program, which provides marketing, technology, and other tools to hotel owners, including access to Wyndham Rewards’ global member base.
