Anantara Siam Bangkok Begins $50M Transformation to Redefine Thai Luxury

Anantara Siam Bangkok is set to begin a USD $50 million renovation, marking a new chapter for the hotel as it evolves to meet the needs of today’s travellers. More than a physical upgrade, the project focuses on cultural experiences, sensory rituals, and deeper guest engagement with Thai traditions.

Entering its fifth decade, Anantara Siam has been a prominent presence in Bangkok’s Ratchadamri district since 1983. Known for its hand-painted murals, lush garden courtyards, and authentic Thai hospitality, the hotel strives to blend its heritage with modern design and updated amenities. Guided by the theme “Transformed. Timeless. Thai,” the hotel aims to preserve its character while enhancing the guest experience.

Phased Renovation Through 2026

The renovation will be completed in two phases to minimise guest disruption.

  • Phase One (until November 2025): Refurbishment of Montathip and Kannika Court guest rooms and suites, Garden Terrace Rooms, Kasara Lounge, pool and terrace, fitness centre, and some meeting rooms.

  • Phase Two (May to September 2026): Updates to Garden Pool Villas, Parichart Court rooms, the Spice Market restaurant, Kids’ Club, grand lobby, ballroom, and remaining event spaces.
Dining venues and upper-level function spaces will stay open throughout.

New Spaces and Experiences

Guests will see refreshed spaces, including a redesigned lobby and a new Kasara Lounge. A special Jim Thompson Suite will showcase Thai craftsmanship, while six Garden Suites will offer private plunge pools and greenery. The pool area will become a garden retreat, and the fitness centre will feature new equipment, an infrared sauna, and a Pilates studio.

Daily cultural programming will invite guests to explore Thai customs, from alms-giving and storytelling to cooking classes and craft workshops. Subtle cultural elements, such as floral displays, turn-down cards, and welcome ceremonies, will be integrated into each stay.

Seamless Guest Experience During Renovation

During the project, Anantara Siam will maintain its service levels. Kasara Lounge guests will receive dining credits and enhanced amenities while the lounge is closed. Spa services will be offered in temporary suites, and fitness and pool access will be available at The St. Regis Bangkok nearby.

“This renovation reflects both our respect for heritage and our focus on evolving guest needs,” said Torsten Richter, General Manager of Anantara Siam Bangkok.

“We are investing significantly to enhance the hotel while keeping its unique character.”

The project is part of Minor Hotels’ broader plan to update its Anantara properties across Thailand, including recent enhancements at resorts in Koh Samui, Hua Hin, and Phuket.

As Anantara Siam moves forward, it aims to offer a refreshed experience while staying rooted in its cultural identity.
