UNI Air Secures ATR 72-600 Order

ATR has announced that UNI Air, a subsidiary of EVA Air, has placed a firm order for 19 ATR 72-600 aircraft, with the option for three additional planes. This order represents the largest for ATR since 2017 and is the second direct order from UNI Air since 2011, when the Taiwanese airline acquired 10 ATR 72-600 aircraft. The recent order reflects both UNI Air’s and EVA Air’s confidence in ATR turboprops to effectively serve the domestic market in Taiwan. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2027 and 2032.
The 19 new aircraft will not only replace but also expand UNI Air’s current fleet of 14 ATR 72-600s, marking a significant step in the airline’s modernization and growth. Equipped with next-generation engines, an updated cabin design, and a new air management system, these aircraft are set to enhance UNI Air’s operations and competitive position through improved fuel efficiency, lower maintenance costs, greater reliability, and an upgraded passenger experience.
Operating primarily from Taipei Songshan Airport, UNI Air is essential for locals, tourists, and businesses by providing reliable air connectivity to 11 destinations, including the islands of Kinmen, Penghu, and Matsu, all serviced by ATR turboprops. In addition to its direct routes, UNI Air contributes to a broader regional mobility network, seamlessly linking communities, connecting to larger domestic and international hubs, and strengthening Taiwan’s integrated transport system, ensuring efficient and low-emission travel for all passengers.
Solomon Lin, Chairman of UNI Air expressed his enthusiasm: “This marks a major step in UNI Air’s strategy to enhance domestic air services, playing a vital role in boosting Taiwan’s dynamism at local, national and regional levels. With this new order, we are reinforcing our commitment to ensuring a young and modern fleet to serve the domestic market efficiently, offering passengers the highest standards of comfort and reliability. ATR aircraft, renowned for their unbeatable economics, fuel efficiency, versatility and airport accessibility, have consistently proven to be the optimal platform for regional connectivity. As we continue to grow our operations, ATR remains our preferred partner, playing a key role in sustaining and strengthening Taiwan’s air network.”

Nathalie Tarnaud-Laude, Chief Executive Officer at ATR, thanked UNI Air for their continued trust, and added: “UNI Air makes a meaningful difference for the communities it serves, providing them with the frequency, reliability, and connectivity they need. We are delighted to renew our strategic partnership, supporting them in their expansion plans. UNI Air’s confidence in ATR is the strongest testament to the essential role our aircraft play in shaping efficient and sustainable regional aviation networks. This new order is a powerful affirmation of our mission: building aircraft that bring communities closer together.”
This order demonstrates that ATR is the leading choice for airlines seeking modern, efficient, and low-emission regional aircraft. It also reinforces UNI Air’s position as a leader in regional aviation. ATR’s strong sales in 2024 highlight the resurgence of the regional aviation sector. The Asia-Pacific region has emerged as the most active market for ATR, where its aircraft are well-suited to the area’s diverse landscapes and evolving population needs, ensuring efficient and sustainable travel connections.
