La Maison 1888 Secures MICHELIN Star
The InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort celebrates its success at the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony 2025, where La Maison 1888 retained its one MICHELIN star. This recognition places it among only nine nationwide restaurants to receive a one-star rating. Additionally, it is the only establishment in Central Vietnam to achieve this honour, reaffirming La Maison 1888’s status as a leading venue in Vietnamese gastronomy.
This annual event occurred at the InterContinental Danang on Thursday, June 5th. It was the first time the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony was held in Central Vietnam.
La Maison 1888, set in a French Indochine-style mansion overlooking the sea, is the first restaurant in Vietnam to be overseen by a MICHELIN three-star chef—currently Christian Le Squer. Chef Christian, a leader in French fine dining and named Gault & Millau’s “Chef of the Year” for 2023, has maintained three MICHELIN stars for 23 consecutive years. At La Maison 1888, he presents his unique style of “haute couture” cuisine to discerning diners through highly artistic à la carte dishes and tasting menus, all crafted from fresh, seasonal ingredients.
The restaurant has a team made up of local and international members. It is led by Chef Florian Stein, who trained at Le Chambard in France. The wine cellar includes some of the rarest labels in Vietnam. Head Sommelier Amedeo Bellini and Assistant Sommelier Toan Nguyen, a promising talent in Vietnam’s beverage scene, manage the collection.

MICHELIN awards one star to restaurants that consistently use high-quality ingredients and prepare dishes with distinct flavours. At La Maison 1888, Chef Christian guides guests on a journey of taste, texture, flavour, and aroma. Each dish is crafted with precision and respect for the ingredients, akin to a tailored piece in a Paris fashion show. One standout offering is the signature dish, Le Spaghetti Debout (“Standing Spaghetti”). This dish features elegantly arranged strands of pasta topped with rich black truffle and premium ham, finished with a cream of golden chanterelles poured at the table.
“To retain a MICHELIN star is a great honour. It reflects the consistency and refined artistry of our cuisine, which constantly evolves to evoke emotion,” Chef Christian commented.

La Maison 1888, designed by Bill Bensley, provides a unique dining experience in a black-and-white French colonial environment. Guests can choose to eat in the elegant Indochine Room, on an outdoor terrace, or in a private dining room upstairs. There is also a special Chef’s Table that can seat up to 14 guests and offers an interactive experience with a view of the kitchen.

“We are thrilled that La Maison 1888 has retained one MICHELIN star for the second consecutive year, which reaffirms its status as one of the most innovative and inspiring places to dine, not only in Vietnam but anywhere in Asia. This is a testament to our team’s dedication, consistency, and commitment to excellence. Earning this honour is just the beginning; with Chef Christian Le Squer’s mentorship and the unwavering dedication of Chef Florian and his team, we will not only uphold the standards of a MICHELIN-starred restaurant, but keep pushing boundaries – one detail at a time – to continue building InterContinental Danang as a world-class dining destination,” said Seif Hamdy, General Manager, InterContinental Danang.

La Maison 1888 will celebrate its MICHELIN success by launching a Special Celebratory Menu. This menu will feature many of Chef Christian’s most famous and award-winning dishes. It will be available starting June 9, 2025. From June 11 to June 15, 2025, diners will have a special chance to meet and interact with Chef Christian, a leader in French fine dining, as he returns to Danang.
The MICHELIN Guide started in Vietnam in 2023, covering Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and added Danang in 2024. In the 2025 MICHELIN Guide for Vietnam, only nine restaurants received a one-star rating. La Maison 1888 was the only restaurant in Central Vietnam to achieve this honour.
