American Airlines Soars with New 787-9 Premium Experience

American Airlines has officially debuted its newest premium aircraft, which has started its inaugural flight from Chicago (ORD) to Los Angeles (LAX), carrying over 200 passengers. This flight marks the beginning of the summer travel season and coincides with the launch of several new international and domestic routes that will start on June 5. Passengers on this first premium Boeing 787-9 flight received gift bags filled with various commemorative items, including a specially designed flight tag to celebrate the aircraft’s debut.

“We’re excited that you are part of the beginning of this plane’s journey,” American’s Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden said in a note to passengers on Flight 2012.
“Everything you see on board today was designed with you in mind: from the design details to Bluetooth connectivity to state-of-the-art entertainment, your comfort is our priority.”
Customers in the 51 Flagship Suite seats enjoy extra personal storage space, a wireless charging pad, USB-C ports, and AC power outlets. They can relax in a unique chaise lounge seat with an adjustable headrest pillow. Before boarding, these customers receive priority check-in, security screening, boarding, and baggage handling. On long international flights, they can access American Airlines’ Flagship lounge before departure. During the flight, Flagship Suite service includes a multi-course meal that pairs with wines. Customers also receive Brandon Blackwood amenity kits and a cosy duvet blanket, along with a dual-sided pillow—one side with cool-touch fabric and the other with traditional fabric.
Those opting for Premium Economy will experience the redesigned seat with new headrest wings that give customers additional privacy and new calf and footrests that offer enhanced comfort. The 32 Premium Economy seats also feature a new trim and finish, wireless charging, water bottle storage, USB-C, and AC power, ensuring customers have a place for everything during their travel journey.

Customers travelling in the Main Cabin will enjoy an in-flight experience tailored to their personal travel experience. Each seat offers USB-C and AC power and 4K QLED screens, featuring Thales’s newest inflight entertainment technology, which includes American’s vast entertainment options, from blockbuster movies to audiobooks and children’s shows. American’s new aircraft is not just about luxury for a few but about comfort and care for all.
Bluetooth connectivity is available in all cabins, allowing customers to use their personal headsets to enjoy a variety of entertainment options on American’s in-flight screens.
Summer Travel to Europe Starts Now

Connecting customers for summer vacation is more convenient as American launches several new international routes today.
For those looking to experience Italy’s breathtaking basilicas, ancient Roman ruins, and picturesque gondola-filled canals, American Airlines is launching new nonstop flights from Miami (MIA) to Rome (FCO) and from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Venice (VCE).
Travellers interested in exploring Greece’s stunning columns and olive farms can take advantage of a new service to Athens (ATH) from Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT). This summer, American will offer four daily flights to Greece, providing more access to the country from U.S. airports than any other airline.
Earlier this summer, American also launched new nonstop service from ORD to Naples, Italy (NAP); Philadelphia (PHL) to Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI); and PHL to Milan, Italy (MXP). Customers who want to explore Spain have another option with the new nonstop service from ORD to Madrid (MAD), which started in March.
