Hyatt Announces Plans For Samara Lombok, The First Destination By Hyatt Hotel In Southeast Asia

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with PT Lombok Torok Developments for the Samara Lombok project, which will be the first Destination by Hyatt brand in Southeast Asia. This integrated development, located in South Lombok, will add to Hyatt’s portfolio of 15 properties in Indonesia, which spans seven brands, including Alila, Andaz, Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt Regency, and The Unbound Collection by Hyatt.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with PT Lombok Torok Developments on this hotel and bring guests and World of Hyatt members to the emerging destination of Lombok.”

Lombok is famous for its beaches and surf breaks, which are considered some of Indonesia’s best. The island is also home to Mount Rinjani, the second-highest volcano in the country and a popular trekking destination. Samara Lombok is conveniently located just 25 minutes from Lombok International Airport, accessible by air and sea.

“Our vision for Samara Lombok has always been to create a destination that goes far beyond conventional luxury. It’s about crafting a place where exceptional design, sport, dining, and exploration come together to deliver truly meaningful guest experiences,” said Stephen Ebsworth, co-founder, Samara Lombok.

“This agreement with Hyatt allows us to share that vision with a wider global audience, while remaining firmly rooted in the spirit and soul of Lombok.”

Spanning over 300 acres (125 hectares) on the beautiful island of Lombok, the integrated development of Samara Lombok will feature two distinct sites: Samara Bay and Samara Hills. Guests can anticipate a wellness village, multiple swimming pools, and more than ten restaurants and bars, each presenting a diverse array of culinary concepts developed in collaboration with some of the region’s most esteemed chefs.

The development will feature purpose-built sports facilities including four tennis courts, four padel courts, and a marine and water sports centre. Additionally, there will be an educational marine biology centre, an organic farm and sustainability hub, a dedicated children’s zone, and various beach clubs and day clubs designed for relaxation and social connection.

The hotel will feature 249 guest rooms and villas spread across the development. The architecture and interior design will be crafted by several award-winning architects based in Bali, who will take inspiration from the area’s paddy fields. Construction is underway, and Samara Lombok is set to open in 2027.
