Taj Palitana Palace Coming to Gujarat
The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of the Palitana Palace, which will be part of the Taj brand in Palitana, Gujarat.
Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IHCL, said, “Taj has been redefining luxury for over 121 years and its recognition as World’s Strongest Hotel Brand and India’s Strongest Brand is testament to it. We are honoured to partner with His Highness Thakore Saheb Mandhatasinhji Jadeja of Rajkot to bring the Palitana Palace under the Taj brand. This addition reinforces our commitment to preserving India’s rich heritage and expanding our portfolio of Palaces, Havelis and Forts.”
“As one of Gujarat’s revered destinations, Palitana holds immense potential for spiritual tourism. This also presents an opportunity for us to build the social and weddings segment in the region,” he added.
Following extensive renovations, the 65-key Taj Palitana will present rooms and suites that blend historic elegance with contemporary luxury. The hotel will offer an all-day dining option, a specialty restaurant, a lounge, and amenities such as a gym, pool, and spa. The Palitana Palace will provide a 3,000 sq. ft. ballroom, meeting areas, and outdoor lawns to cater to the growing demand for social and wedding events. In addition to restoring the Palace to its historical splendour, royal art and historical artefacts will be displayed throughout the property.
His Highness Thakore Saheb Mandhatasinhji Jadeja, representing Trident Developers Pvt. Ltd. and the Jadeja Royal Family of Rajkot, shared his thoughts on the collaboration, stating, “It is with immense pride that we partner with IHCL’s Taj to transform the Palitana Palace into a window to a bygone time. This collaboration is a significant step towards preserving the heritage of Palitana and elevating the city’s appeal to global travellers.”
Palitana, located in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district, is a notable spiritual and cultural hub. Its rich history and architectural wonders make it a must-visit. With this new hotel, IHCL will have a total of 29 hotels in Gujarat, including 10 that are currently under development.
