Kerala will transform 25 locations into “Green Tourism Destinations”

Kerala recently decided to designate 25 popular tourist locations as “Green Tourism Destinations.” This initiative is included in the larger ‘Malinya Muktham Nava Keralam’ campaign. The campaign’s main goal is for Kerala to become a garbage-free state by March 30, 2025. The news will be released on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti.

The ‘Green Tourism Destinations’ initiative wishes to transform popular tourist attractions into models of environmental stewardship. These destinations will follow some strict measures for sustainable waste management, hygiene, cleanliness, and conservation practices. Kerala wishes to use these nature-friendly practices to enhance the appeal of its natural and cultural attractions while preserving their natural beauty.

Kite Beach Park, Kasaragod: It is a beach park dedicated to implementing eco-friendly practices.

Lokanarkavu Temple, Kozhikode: Lokanarkavu Temple in Kozhikode is a heritage site that emphasizes environmentally friendly practices while preserving its cultural significance.

Iritty Eco Park and Chal Beach, Kannur: Iritty Eco Park and Chal Beach are two destinations that highlight the principles of sustainable tourism.

Nilambur Teak Museum, Malappuram: This prominent educational site in Malappuram is dedicated to sustainable forestry and conservation.

Adichanalloor Chira Park and Meenmutti, Kollam: Adichanalloor Chira Park and Meenmutti are two prime natural attractions prioritising environmental sustainability.

Mangalam Dam Park and Kanjirapuzha Dam, Palakkad: Mangalam Dam Park and Kanjirapuzha Dam are two attractions in Palakkad that also promote responsible tourism.

Peechi Dam, Hill View Park, and Malankara Dam, Idukki: These three are some of the most famous attractions in Idukki, and they are noted for their commitment to maintaining clean and eco-friendly recreational regions.

Konni Eco Tourism – Elephant Shelter, Pathanamthitta: This unique eco-tourism site focuses on wildlife conservation and sustainable practices.

Some other popular attractions are Thenmala Eco Adventure Park, Alappuzha Beach, Ponmudi, Ponnumthuruthu, and Sasthamkotta in Thiruvananthapuram. These destinations are committed to eco-friendly operations and clean surroundings.
