PREM AHLUWALIA is also the Associate Editor of YOUNG INDIA, the National News Magazine. She started her career in journalism as a free-lancer on women issues. She was the Editor of MADAME for several years before her present position. She is the recipient of ‘Hall of Fame: Lifetime Contribution to Journalism’ Award on International Women’s Day 2012 at Berlin, Germany.
Prem Ahluwalia is the author of the coffee table book, INDIA’S MOST POWERFUL WOMEN featuring 51 women achievers from different walks of life. Inspirational stories of women who are truly empowered. President of India Pranab Mukherjee received the book at Rashtrapati Bhawan at a grand function hosted by him when the book was released in India. International release was done by Dr. Taleb Rifai, Secretary General, UNWTO on International Women’s Day at ITB Berlin. The book got rave reviews in the media in India and abroad.
A women activist, Prem Ahluwalia is Director, Institute of South Asian Women (ISAW) and General Secretary, All India Mahila Dakshata Samiti (MDS). She has organized several seminars, workshops, rallies, etc. on women issues in India and abroad. She has also been honoured with several awards for her contribution to women’s movement.
She is also the Secretary of Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) and Executive Member, Indian Federation of United Nations Association (IFUNA).
Widely traveled in India and abroad, she has attended several conferences worldwide, be it, the Americas, Europe, Middle East, SAARC countries, South East Asia, New Zealand or the Fiji Islands.
